Topic: Italian Furniture Design
- Educational: an overview of Italian Design History and Sustainable design and materials
- Field trips: visits to international furniture manufacturers such as Alessi, Kartell, Artemide.
- Designing session: from the idea to final design through marketing mix analysis
- Experiential workshop: working with materials, joining and static structure
Objective: make your own furniture and bring it home!
The Made in Italy products contain within their design the history of Italian manufacturing know-how and the skills of extraordinary entrepreneurs. The celebrated and well-known Italian design products came to fruition as a result of both local knowledge and culture and to the ingenuity of the designers themselves.
They are now known worldwide thanks to the globally recognized brand names of many Italian manufacturers.
TEC’s students will have the opportunity to visit many of the most important local design companies, including Alessi, Kartell, Artemide, and to study their products.
Students will also have the opportunity to develop their own design product in an experiential workshop where they will prototype a furniture design.
